Bowen Technique

This technique was developed by Tom Bowen in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, following the 2nd World War. He developed a gentle soft tissue procedure using highly intuitive assessment skills.

A very gentle technique, the basic 'Bowen' move is made by rolling the thumbs and forefingers over a muscle or tendon at precise locations to help with relaxation.

A precise series of moves has a profoundly relaxing effect, helping to balance the body systems and supporting the body's innate ability to self heal.

There are crucial pauses in the work allowing time for the nervous system and fascia to respond. A treatment session lasts from 30 minutes to an hour on a comfortable bed with the client wearing light loose clothing.

The Technique is useful on all ages from neonates through to the elderly.

With the complex nature of physical problems affecting several body systems it is easy to see why Bowen is such a powerful support. Bowen is a useful adjunct in first-aid situations, post injury or post surgery. Bowen supports the healing to begin immediately and helps with the flow of blood and energy to enable the body to repair itself.
